He Whispers: Poetic talks with God

Like Amy Carmichael, Anne Peterson gives us a peek at her relationship with God. She writes poems that will renew our faith and encourage our hearts through life’s struggles. He Whispers is a three volume series:

  • Volume One: Anne lets us in on her conversations with God, helping us to see His fingerprints everywhere. Many poems are about creation and God’s presence.

  • Volume Two: Life is hard. While we experience both joy and sorrow, sometimes we get weary on our journey. Anne shares some of her struggles and what God whispered to her. You’re not eavesdropping, she’s invited you in.

  • Volume Three: Anne asks the harder questions she has kept in the recesses of her mind. Featuring one of the first poems she ever wrote, I Have These Holes, we see right into her open heart.

"Her poems have a way of reaching into the heart."

“I wish I’d had this lovely book of faith-building poems to read to my children when they were little, to encourage them to keep reading throughout their lives, especially when their convictions waver during difficult adult years, or beliefs ebb as they grow old. The timeless poems of Anne Peterson renew and uplift our faith, regardless of age.”

“Through Anne Peterson’s poems, I find myself seated right at the feet of Jesus on the throne. Each poem refreshes my soul and helps me to see that God is always by my side; I am not alone. Her amazing wisdom takes me right back where I need to be. Everyone should read this book, as well as her other writings, to see the reality of trusting the God who created the universe. I love the way she personally relates to God and talks to Him like He is her best friend. There is no doubt that you will enjoy and be enthralled through each poem in this book. Thanks, Anne. Keep writing, please!”

“I am a fan of Anne Peterson’s work. Her poems have a way of reaching into the heart. Her new poems in He Whispers do not disappoint. In fact, she gives a voice to those thoughts we have with such insight and grace. The poems that spoke to me the most in this volume are “I’ll Come,” and “Underneath My Wings.” However, each page is filled with serenity, inspiration and grace. Anne’s words are a delight to read.”

“I have extensively read and enjoyed a lot of Anne’s poetry, and this book is no exception. I find Anne has a wonderful talent for expressing our emotions and connecting us with God through her poetry. I can relate to so many of the poems, and they express what I struggle to find the words to say. There is a wonderful variety of poems covering different topics. It would make a great gift.

“Anne Peterson is a gifted writer. Using simple words, she conveys deep and complex feelings that are recognizable by most of us. In all honesty she speaks about doubt, fear, weariness… but just like the writers of the Psalms, she doesn’t leave us there–she takes our sight upwards to finding answers in God. We start by feeling what she portrays so well, and by the end of the poem, we are encouraged and uplifted by the truth: God loves us, really cares for us, IS FOR US! Each poem is a little gem to be discovered, examined, and then treasured. Because we will want to come back again and again to be reminded of how for each trial there is God’s provision.

That may be Anne’s greatest offering: because she has actually gone through some really tough times, and she has come out of them with a greater faith, we sense that we can also make the same journey.

I have loved Anne’s writings in the past, and each time I read something new, I love it too.”

“Another wonderful collection of poems by Anne that captures the very essence of our relationship with God. Anne gently reminds us that through all circumstances in life God is there with us we need only lean on him. I particularly enjoyed “He Stayed” and “Close Enough.” A wonderful addition to He Whispers Volume One.”
